Support my big walk for little kids

Every month, 64 Australian families are given the heart-breaking news that their child has cancer. This September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I'm taking part in Big Walk for Little Kids to bring fun, positivity and laughter back into the lives of little kids facing cancer. Every dollar I raise will fund Camp Quality's services and programs to help little kids who are dealing with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a brother, sister, mum or dad. Please support my BIG walk to give little kids and families the break from cancer they urgently need. As they say at Camp Quality "laughter is the best medicine", so please give generously so we can spread those smiles far and wide. Thank you so much!

Day 1: what have i gotten myself into?!

Hi everyone, Temperance here! Today was Day 1 of my Camp Quality Big Walk for Little Kids challenge, and I have decided to try and walk 128km during September. Yes, you read that right 128 KILOMETRES. My legs don't know this yet, so nobody tell them! I wanted to do the Big Walk because Camp Quality supports kids and families impacted by cancer. I think kids should be able to have fun, laugh, be silly and make happy memories, even when they are going through really hard things. By doing my walk, I hope I can help more people learn about Camp Quality, raise some money and show that even little people can do something to help. And off we went... For my first walk, we headed from home down towards the lake. It sounded simple enough. It was NOT. We went up hills, down hills, through walkways and around the lake. We crossed bridges and then we found steps. And more steps And MORE STEPS! Seriously... who put all these steps here?! But I wasn't too busy walking to have some fun. Somewhere along the way, walking turned into a dance break. Because obviously if you're planning on walking 128km, you should use some extra energy dancing too. Makes perfect sense to me! While we walked, I looked around at everything happening near the lake and talked about the things I could see. Walking gives you lots of time to talk — trust me, I tested that part VERY well! But we also talked about why I'm doing this challenge and the kids that Camp Quality helps. That's the important part. Every time I get out and walk, I can tell people about the Big Walk and hopefully help more people learn about the cause too. Surely we were finished now? After all those hills, bridges, steps and dancing, it was time for two very important things. A snack. And a toilet break. Then you would think we went home. NOPE! We headed to the outdoor gym for even more exercise.I climbed the walls, tried the leg press, walked on the walking pads, climbed through the nets and did the rope pulls. At this point I'm pretty sure my legs were asking, "Temperance, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO US?!" Then we walked some more before stopping to watch the ducks at the lake. That was a much better idea. Ducks don't require leg presses. So that was my very first day! I walked, climbed, danced, explored, exercised, talked A LOT, watched ducks and, most importantly, started my 192km challenge for a really special reason. I think Day 1 was a pretty great success. I've still got a VERY long way to go, but everyone has to start somewhere. 192km... I'm coming for you. Temperance xx

Who knwho knew walking could be this chaotic?!

Today was another BIG day of walking for my Camp Quality Big Walk for Little Kids… although I’m starting to think Mummy has a very different idea of what “going for a little walk” means! This morning we started from home and headed around the outside of the BIG lake. We went through forest paths looking for birds, ducks and those silly bush turkeys. And then one CHASED MUMMY! I probably should have helped her… but I was way too busy laughing! Then came the hills. And more hills. And stairs. And somehow AFTER all those stairs, we found EVEN BIGGER HILLS! Seriously… WHO put all these hills here?! Did I think we might be getting lost? YES. Did I find heaps of new pretty places to explore? YES! Did we make it all the way around to the other side of the lake and eventually back home? SOMEHOW, YES! After a little rest, we headed back out again in the afternoon to walk around the little lake. Little lake = little walk, right? WRONG! It turned into another whole mission! We went backwards and forwards over bridges looking for water dragons. I kept sneaking up soooo quietly trying to get close enough to pat one. I nearly got there… but apparently water dragons don't want to be my friend. RUDE! I chatted to soooo many people, climbed along the rocks and found secret little pathways to explore — and that was before we were even halfway around! Then I started skipping, spinning, dancing and twirling my way around. Because apparently just WALKING 128kms isn't enough exercise for me! I LOVE bridges, so obviously I had to go back through and over them AGAIN. This time I was searching for ducks to talk to. Then I stopped at the playground for a play, did even MORE exercise on the outdoor gym equipment and finally got to feed the ducks. They all started surrounding me and I decided I should probably take one home. Mummy said NO. Personally, I still think we have room for a duck. So I came home with no duck, no dragons tired legs, lots of new places I want to explore again and even more kilometres added to my challenge. And underneath all the silliness, exploring, dancing, hills and attempted duck-napping, there’s a really important reason I’m doing this. 💛 I’m getting fitter, making my leg muscles stronger and challenging myself — while helping raise awareness and support for Camp Quality and the amazing work they do for little kids and families impacted by cancer. 26KMS DOWN! That means I have 102KMS TO GO until I reach my massive 128KM GOAL! My legs might be wondering what on earth I’m doing to them… But there’s no stopping me now! 128KM — I’M COMING FOR YOU! Temperance xx

Who put all these hills here?! 😂☀️💛

Wellllll… today was HOT! ☀️ And when it’s hot, obviously the best idea EVER is to go SWIMMING! So I thought we would do what we normally do — get dressed, grab our stuff, jump in the car and head to our local lagoon. NOPE. Mumma had other plans. 🙄😂 She reminded me that I’m doing the Camp Quality Big Walk for Little Kids, raising money and walking kilometres for little kids facing cancer. So apparently, if I wanted to go swimming… I had to WALK THERE. Fine. Challenge accepted. We packed water, snacks — because SNACKS ARE IMPORTANT — got dressed and started walking. And can somebody please explain to me WHY I have never noticed how many HILLS there are?! 😳Up a hill. Down a hill. Up ANOTHER hill. Down again. Then somehow… MORE HILLS. WHO BUILT THIS PLACE?! 😂 It was sooo warm, so every little bit of shade was amazing. We crossed roads, roundabouts, traffic lights, crossings and bridges while I talked… and talked… and talked… and probably talked some more. Mumma definitely got her steps AND a full podcast from me today. 😂 FINALLY, we made it to the lagoon! 💦 But did I sit down and rest? Absolutely NOT. I swam and swam and SWAM. I walked up and down through the water, along the edge of the pool, climbed through the rocks and obstacles, had some snacks, then went straight back in for MORE swimming. After what felt like the longest day ever, I was finally ready to go home. Then Mumma said… “You know we have to walk home too, right?”EXCUSE ME?! 😳😂 So back we went. Over the bridges, across the crossings, past the traffic lights and BACK OVER THOSE AWFUL HILLS.My legs were tired. I was tired. But we MADE IT HOME! 🙌 And the best part? I added heaps more kilometres to my Big Walk for Little Kids challenge and every single one of those steps is helping me raise awareness and funds for Camp Quality and little kids facing cancer. 💛 So yes… today was a VERY long day. But also a pretty awesome one. Now somebody please tell Mumma that tomorrow we can DRIVE. 😂💛

Wellllll… i think winter has officially left because today was hot! ☀️😂

But hot weather doesn’t mean my Camp Quality Big Walk for Little Kids stops… it just means we have to find more fun ways to get those kilometres in! Today was a little different because it was Father’s Day 💙 and even though Daddy is away working, I still went and did something I KNOW he would have loved — A CAR SHOW! 🚗 So instead of driving there (which would have been waaaaay easier 😂), we WALKED! And there were SOOOOO many cars! Old cars, new cars, tiny cars, bumpy-looking cars, super shiny cars, really LOUD cars and, of course, my favourites… the big, fast, noisy V8s! 😍 There were people everywhere, music playing and so much to look at. I think I could have stayed there forever… except by lunchtime it was getting TOO HOT. 🥵 Later, when it started cooling down, we headed back out for our sunset lake walk. This time Mummy decided we should try a different way around the lake and WOWWWW — it was SO pretty! 🌅 New paths, pretty views and another adventure while adding more kilometres to my Camp Quality challenge. But it was STILL hot… so obviously there was only one sensible thing left to do… SWIMMING! 💦😂 We finished our adventure with a swim in the lagoon to cool down. Another day. Another adventure. More kilometres done. 💛 I’m walking this September for Camp Quality’s Big Walk for Little Kids, helping raise money to bring positivity, fun and laughter to kids facing cancer. And if I can do it while finding loud cars, new adventures and places to swim… even better! 😂💛 Love, Temperance 💛
