I've joined Convoy Newcastle to help kids facing cancer
I will kick-start the drive as we travel a 38km loop around Newcastle and Maitland area on Sunday, 8 November 2026 to bring positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of kids facing cancer.
Every month, 64 kids are diagnosed with a cancer.
For 40 years, Camp Quality has improved the quality of life for kids impacted by cancer, and their families.
Camp Quality's programs and services help families build optimism and resilience through community, education and fun. They support kids (0-15) dealing with their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a sibling, parent, or carer, every step of the way.
Last year, Camp Quality supported 1 in 3 kids diagnosed with cancer. Their goal is to help them all!

Why I’m getting behind camp quality convoy for kids
I entered my truck in the Camp Quality Convoy for Kids because it’s a good event, and I want to raise some money to help kids and families who need it.
As a truck driver , we spend a lot of time away from home and away from our families. Long days and weeks on the road are just part of what we do, so I think we probably understand better than most how important that time with family can be.
For families dealing with childhood cancer, time together can be interrupted by hospital stays, appointments, treatment and travelling backwards and forwards. They don’t get to choose that.
That’s why I reckon the trucking community should get behind events like this. We’re already a pretty tight-knit community, and if getting our trucks together, raising some money and giving up a bit of our time can help families going through one of the hardest times of their lives, then it’s the least we can do.
For me, it’s pretty simple, it’s a great day out and great family fun day out and all proceeds going to Camp quality helping those who need it most !
I’d love to see plenty of other truckies get behind it too. 🚛💙
