I’m fundraising to help Camp Quality

Hi all, 

My name is Christina, my daughter Kiara was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma brain tumour in Oct 2016 when she was 5. It has been a long journey over the years.

My daughter had to go through radiation in 2017 where we spent 30 days in oncology at the children’s hospital in Westmead and the crown princess mary cancer centre. Seeing and meeting families with loved ones who have been battling for years, some who were freshly getting the news really inspired me to want to give back.

So on may 25th 2017, I vowed I would grow my hair to donate for wigs for cancer patients. On may 20th 2024, I will be getting my hair cut with hair and beauty academy Penrith, who will send my hair off for donation. 

May is brain tumour awareness month, seeing my own daughter face many medical challenges over the years, the countless teams, charities and support that we have received. 

I’m fundraising to help Camp Quality support kids facing cancer. Because every day, two Aussie families are given the heartbreaking news that their child has cancer.

Camp Quality gives kids facing cancer the chance to be kids again. Their services and programs are made specifically to help children 0 -15 who are dealing with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of someone they love, like a brother, sister, mum or dad.

As they say at Camp Quality “laughter is the best medicine”, so please give generously so we can spread those smiles far and wide.

Camp quality has given my daughter, her brothers, myself and my family an opportunity to escape our reality with the amazing events they put on for families. It gives the children a break, where we can meet other families and experience life and some what of normality, to create memories and friendships.

I’ve named this fundraiser after my daughter who is my biggest inspiration and hero and has taught me so much about life over the years.
