OB One
We're preparing for the open road and to take part in Camp Quality’s “esCarpade 2026” in October to raise funds to assist in bringing positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of children and their families confronting cancer.
Janelle and I will be taking part in a seven-day driving adventure from Sunshine Coast to Tweed Heads (via all points to Lightning Ridge and return) to raise funds and awareness for Camp Quality.
For 40 years, Camp Quality has supported children aged 0–15 who are facing their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a sibling or parent. Through community, education and fun, their programs help families build optimism and resilience throughout their cancer experience. Camp Quality delivers hope.
This is a cause close to both Janelle and my hearts. Janelle was struck down at thirteen months of age with bacterial meningitis and spent a week in intensive care. I was hospitalised for three months with polio at age 5 with the prognosis of life with calipers and crutches at best. Both sets of parents were devastated at the time.
If not for the generous actions of so many people over a considerable period of time, people who were total strangers to us and our families, neither of us would be living the quality of life we enjoy today.
Camp Quality provides the opportunity for each of us to be one of those "generous strangers" that truely make a difference to a young life.
