On the Road: WesCarpade Day 2

06 Aug 2018

Day 2: Monday 6th August

TODAY the Wescarpade crew left a chilly Quindanning heading towards Lake Grace. The route ahead included several water crossings and a creek crossing which unfortunately claimed the engine of The Pirates car. Gaz and Deb had the car towed back to Bunbury, and hope to repair it and rejoin the trip within the next day or so. Our trip included a school visit to the Wickepin Primary School followed by a lunch at the Wickepin Sport and Recreation Centre. The crew enjoyed a night at the Lake Grace Hotel with a 60s flavour and local guitarist Hayden McGlinn belting out the tunes.

Highlights of Day 2 included:

  • Our first of several water crossings, including a creek crossing out of Narrogin
  • Our first school visit to Wickepin Primary School, to the delight of nearly 100 kids, followed by a delicious lunch.
  • A fun stop at the Numbat proof fence where the T-Rex crew donned costumes and entertained Wescarpadians.
  • A stop at Harrismith oval where our Wescarpade virgins were welcomed into the fold in traditional fashion.
  • Shrek’s legendary sundowner in Lake Grace, complete with Midori cocktails.
  • A 1960s birthday party celebration at the Lake Grace hotel to celebrate the 50th birthdays of several Wescarpadians. Local guitarist Hayden McGlinn entertained the crew until closing time.

The Day 2 Dipstick Award went to Tony Taylor for his work entertaining the locals at the Quindanning Hotel.

Tomorrow the crew heads to Bremer Bay on the South Coast.
