Support my Big Walk for Little Kids

Every day, 2 Australian families are given the heart-breaking news that their child has cancer.

This September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I'm taking part in the Big Walk for Little Kids to bring fun, positivity and laughter back into the lives of little kids facing cancer.

Every dollar I raise will fund Camp Quaity's services and programs to help little kids who are dealing with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a brother, sister, mum or dad.

Please support my BIG walk to give little kids and families the break from cancer they urgently need. As they say at Camp Quality "laughter is the best medicine", so please give generously so we can spread those smiles far and wide.

Thank you so much!

Day 2 - making friends with the maggie’s around botanic ridge

Day 2 walking for this great cause. 11.1km day 1 and followed up with 6.9km today. Appreciate Kaye keeping me company on the walks, and it only cost me a coffee today. Magpies are getting a bit restless, so made sure I took the bag of oats with me to make friends as we trekked along.

Day 3 meander with the grandchildren

Relaxing day 3 with two of the Grandaughters. plenty of horses and ponies to feed carrots, and well as swings and slides to check out. Needed the slower pace after days 1 & 2 ?

Day 4 - golf and a good walk

They say variety is the spice of life, so combined a walk with a game of golf at Settlers Run Golf & Country Club. The way I play golf I’m always going to get up more Km’s than the average person ? Great to be out and about in the fresh air amongst the Roos doing what love whilst helping a great cause.

Day 5 - late day walk

Got a late walk in today around the local golf estate. Heaps of wildlife out and about which makes the walk even more enjoyable. Keep reminding myself how wonderful a cause it is that myself and so many others are supporting. So many friends and family have already supported Camp Quality through their kind donations, and if you haven’t already it would be great if you could find a few dollars to help this wonderful fundraiser.

Day 6 - golf and a walk

What a great day for some golf and for adding another 8km to the total of kms for September thus far. Once again I ask my amazing group of family and friends to dig deep for this wonderful cause and help me go over and above my target to help kids and families dealing with cancer.

Day 7 - short but tough walk in the wind.

Just a short 6km walk today but pretty tough with the extremely windy conditions around Botanic Ridge. A few big trees down. Once again I’d like to thank everyone who has supported and sponsored me thus far. Reslly appreciate it. Half way to my 100+km walk target for September, so all good so far.

Day 8 - short walk in the rain

Ran out of time to do a substantial walk today but at least I was able to get just over 3km in before dinner. On track for both km and dollar targets which is pleasing. Thank you to all those that have sponsored me so far and hopefully we can raise a bit more before the end of September.

Day 9 - drive to barham and set up camp

Longish day on the road heading to Barham in NSW for tennis and golf. weather was perfect today but looks like it’s turning sour tomorrow. Only a short walk around town after setting up the caravan but I reckon I get some credits for carrying a slab of stubbies the last 500mts ? Looking forward to getting some walks in over the next 10 days in this beautiful part of Aus.

Day 10 - really easy & relaxed day

Second day in Barham and spent most of it watching the Wife at tennis, catching up with friends and doing some practice at the golf club. No official tracking today but my steps suggest I did just over 3km. Look forward to getting back into it tomorrow with a bit more gusto. Re wives a $20 anonymous donation last night and really appreciate it. Any amount at all will assist with this great cause.

Day 11 - mmmm pretty ordinary

2km today which is pretty pathetic. Played a round of golf but they talked me into taking a cart, which of course reduced my potential walk from around 7km down to 2km. Anyway, I’m committed to bouncing back and will put in a couple of big days in the near future. Still looking to get my fundraising total up, so once again, if you have a few dollars to spare please consider supporting this wonderful cause.

Day 12 - back on track

After a slack day 11 I was able to get two 3.5km walks in today. Beautiful sunny morning in Barham, so easy to have a bit of a pep in the step. Thanks again for everyone’s support. Still 18 days of fundraising and walking to go, so if you have a couple of dollars to spare it would be great if you could support this wonderful cause.

Day 13 done & dusted

Leisurely walk around the Barham golf course. Very easy and relaxed 4.3km today. Weather absolutely perfect, so great to be out and about for such a great cause.

Day 14 morning walk

Walked from the caravan park to the golf club this morning. Absolutely magnificent morning with so much bird life around. Did 3.7km at a reasonable pace. Still looking for donations if there are people outtthere with a spare few dollars ?

Day 15 walk was hitting a golf ball as well

Was delighted to be able to play in a mixed competition with my wife at the Barham Golf Club. 27oC but very windy. Enjoyed the company if our playing partners Geraldine and Stephen. Jaye and I didn’t play that well but we had fun. Shout out to those thinking of donating a few dollars to this great cause. It’s not too late and it would be greatly appreciated.

Day 16 - back to back golf days

Yesterday it was 27oC and windy and today it was 17oC with a chilly wind and consistent rain. Only similarity is that played golf both days. Another 4.6km walked but obviously fairly relaxed when you’re hitting a golf ball. Feels great to be halfway through September and hitting my targets for fundraising and distance walked. Still time for people to get on board and support Camp Quality and kids and families living with cancer.

Day 18 - only 8000 steps so no official entry

Today was spent doing some sightseeing and shopping around Moama, Deniliquin, Womboota, Bunnaloo, Pinic Point, Mathoura whilst following the Backroads Trail. Only 8000 steps for the day so I’ll make it up over the next few days. Received another donation overnight and it’s really appreciated. Once again, if you have a couple of dollars spare hanging around please consider this great cause.

Day 18 has come and gone

Able to get another round of golf in today, so added another 5.4km to the total in my pursuit for 100+ km for the month of September. Enjoyingbthe challenge for this great cause and looking to bring the fundraising home with a bang ?

Day 19 - golf again with nsw vets

Pretty chilled walk of 4.2km whilst having a whack of golf. Day had everything - humidity, rain, wind, heat, thunderstorms but thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Day 20 - barham to koondrook return walk

Headed in to watch Koondrook-Barham Netball Club play in the A Grade grand final in Swan Hill. Prior to this we took a walk across the bridge to Koondrook from Barham for a coffee. 5.6km was a good number for the day after a lazy day at golf yesterday.

Day 21 - nithing to see here ?

Returned today from 12 days in the Barham Moondrook area, so a long day on the road via Bendigo and some flowers on a few graves. Will look to put in a few more quality km’s in on day 22 to keep the momentum going. Appreciate the further support from a donation last night. Really appreciated, and once again, if anyone can spare a few dollars it is helping a wonderful cause.

Day 22 - maribynong sports college

Had the good fortune to take my grandson to the V football academy session at Maribynong Sports College. What a wonderful facility and good to see young Dam and many other budding footballers going through their paces. Unfortunately I didn’t get a walk in today as we left early and finished late in Maribynong with a 1.5hr trek back to home in our wonderful Melbourne traffic ? Still have 9 days to raise funds and make a difference to children and families living with cancer.

Day 23 - seven to go for this great cause

Another leisurely walk around a golf course covering 7.5km. Played ok today which was also pleasing. Looking to put in some big ones before the end of September, and once again, really appreciate the donations that are coming in. Diesnt matter the amount as it all goes to a wonderful cause.

Day 24. it i’m not claiming any km’s

Today was spent washing cars, mowing lawns, and more importantly, looking after our 4 grandchildren. It’s fair to say 4 children 12, 10, 4 & 2 can test your resolve at times but I just keep reminding myself how special they are and how lucky I am to have them in my life. I did over 11000 steps today but I’m calling it a day off and classify it as ‘home duties.’

Day 25 - able to get a late walk in

A day with the wife and grandson, along with the sale of a long lived car limited my time to get a walk in. Decided the early evening was a good time to get a walk in around the pathways at Settlers Run. Ended up doing 4km which was respectable and took the monthly tally to 115km. Five days to go in September and hopefully we can get a few more donations and finish with a flourish.

Day 26 - got the walk in, which was great.

Had a late walk tonight after a day in the garden. 3.8km wasn’t a bad number but also knocked up another 12,000 steps prior to hitting the streets.

Day 27 - the lions win the flag

Priir to settling down to watch the GF I was able to get 18 holes in and notched up 8.5km. Bit windy but hit them OK.

Day 28 - i sort of cheated ?

No walk today but did do a 40km bike ride, which of course can’t be factored in against my total km’s walked for September. I’ll take it though as it means I wasn’t slack. Ok, only two days to go so my second last call for donations. Please consider giving a couple of dollars to this wonderful cause.

Day 29 - spent with grandkids and a bit of gardening

Put in around 14,000 steps for the day but only registered a formal walk if just over 2km after the kids had headed home. Only one day to go so hoping to get a few more km’s up to bring this fundraiser home strongly ?

So far, I have helped provide...

42 Digital Puppet Playdates to kids going through treatment.

27 kids a chance to have a break at Family Fun Days.

13 kids to have fun at Kids' Camp.
