Every day, 2 Australian families are given the heart-breaking news that their child has cancer.

I’m walking for the bravest kids I know.


I’m a nurse on 11B – the oncology ward at the children’s hospital – and every day, I get to care for kids who are going through things no child should ever have to face. Cancer doesn’t take away their spirit. It doesn’t dull their smiles. It doesn’t stop them from being kids.

These little warriors show up with strength, courage, and joy even on the hardest days. They teach us what it means to keep going, to laugh through pain, and to fight with everything they’ve got.

That’s why me and some of my amazing colleagues are taking part in Camp Quality’s Big Walk for Little Kids. Camp Quality gives kids facing cancer and their families the chance to just be kids again – to play, laugh, and experience moments of joy, even in the middle of treatment.

We’re walking in honour of every child on 11B – for their strength, their stories, and their smiles.
