Our Superhero Rivah.

On the 19th of February, our family’s world was turned upside down.
My sister received the most devastating news a parent could ever hear, her beautiful 5-year-old son, Rivah, was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

Rivah is full of life and love. He is cheeky, smart, and the sweetest little boy. On the 1st of May 2024, he was also diagnosed with Autism. Rivah cannot communicate verbally, and while he already faces challenges navigating everyday life, he now begins an even tougher journey, one filled with hospital stays, treatments, and being away from his little sister.

Just a month before his diagnosis, my sister and her two children had settled into their new life in Canberra. Both Rivah and his little sister Andee were thriving and ready to start a new school and enjoying a fresh new start. In an instant, everything changed.

Rivah and my sister have now been relocated to Sydney Children’s Hospital for the long road ahead. While Rivah starts treatment, his brave sister Andee is living full-time with her grandparents on the far south coast, visiting her mum and big brother on weekends. Their little family has been separated, but they are holding onto love, hope, and resilience.

Life can change in a heartbeat. That’s why we’re joining Camp Quality’s Big Walk for Little Kids to raise funds for children like Rivah who are facing cancer, and to bring joy, laughter, and support into their lives during the darkest of times.
