Costs
How much does it cost to take part in wesCarpade?
Your registration fee of $635 per person helps us to cover some of the logistics and safety costs of running an epic event like wesCarpade; from fundraising support in the lead up to the event, logistics and safety costs, printed materials and more. Your rego fee covers all meals from breakfast on Day One right through to the final day (with the exception of Lay Day where you’ll organise your own meals).
You will also receive two wesCarpade shirts and a cap, as well as car decals.
All fuel, accommodation and car maintenance is covered by entrants.
You can choose to pay in full when you sign up or pay a $200 per person deposit to secure your spot. If you choose to pay in two instalments, the final payment of $435 is due by 14 June 2024.
Do I need to book my own accommodation?
All teams are responsible for arranging and paying for their own accommodation. Camp Quality will produce an accommodation guide. This provides you with some suggested options at different price points in each of the towns we pass through.
Please remember accommodation can sometimes be a little hard to come by, especially when visiting the more regional locations, so it’s a good idea to plan and book as soon as possible. We do encourage you to buddy up and look at twin accommodation. We will let you know when the accommodation guide is available for download!
Registration
How many co-drivers can I take?
Each car must have a minimum of two people and a maximum of four people.
Does everyone have to register?
Yes. Everyone must complete the registration process for themselves, which includes signing the waiver and event Terms & Conditions.
What happens after I register?
As soon as you register, you’ll be welcomed to the wesCarpade crew with a phone call.
Regular Facebook and emails will keep you up-to-date with everything you need to know, including reminders about when key things happen, like pre-scrutineering and scrutineering.
As the event gets underway, meet your fellow wesCarpadians on 9 August, 2024 in Carnamah. We call this Day 0, which is where final scrutineering takes place, followed by a driver briefing and welcome dinner.
From Day 1 through to Day 8, you’ll tackle dirt roads and experience driving challenges, as well as guaranteed laughs, fun stops and gags along the road.
Each night we get together for dinner and entertainment.
When do registrations close?
Registrations for wesCarpade will close on June 30, 2024.
Late registrations are generally not accepted, however may be considered at the discretion of Camp Quality.
Car Requirements
What type of car do I need to participate?
You can join with any type of car or 4WD as long as it’s roadworthy and registered and meets our car requirements. You will need CTP insurance and third party property damage or full comprehensive insurance.
Does my car need to be event ready when I register?
No. Your car doesn't need to be ready when you register. You'll have the opportunity to have your car checked by our mechanics in the lead-up to the event at pre-scrutineering.
To take part in wesCarpade, your car will need to pass the Scrutineering Checklist.
What are the scrutineering requirements?
- Pre Scruntineering - This is where our mechanics take a look under the hood. Don’t worry, the car doesn’t need to be event-ready for this check, our mechanics can give you some tips and tricks on the day!
- Final Scrutineering - We’ll take one final look under the hood to make sure everything checks out before we head off on our epic adventure.
To take part in wesCarpade, your car will need to pass the Scrutineering Checklist.
On the event
What percentage of the trip is dirt?
The percentage of dirt and bitumen can change from year to year but, on average, around 80% of the route is on dirt!
What happens if my car breaks down?
In the instance of a breakdown, we travel with a fleet of mechanical workshops (MWs) who will be there to assist you. It may be that your vehicle can’t be fixed and, in this case, the MW will transport you to the nearest town.
fundraising
Is there a minimum fundraising amount?
Every car is required to fundraise a minimum of $5,000.
To take part, you need to make sure this amount is showing on your fundraising page before 8 August 2024.
Can I fundraise with other cars?
You can partner up with others and pull your cars together to be part of a team. As long as you raise $5,000 per car, then you are set.
Where does the money go?
The money raised from Camp Quality's wesCarpade helps brings positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of kids facing cancer.
Our programs and services help families build optimism and resilience through community, education and fun. We are there for kids (0-15) dealing with their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a sibling or parent, every step of the way: in hospital, at school, online, and away from it all at our camps and retreats.
