The East Gippsland Convoy for Kids returns in 2026!

Get ready for one of East Gippsland’s biggest and most heartwarming events.

Every four years, the transport industry of East Gippsland unites to raise funds for charities that provide vital support for children and families in need.

All participants are also in the running to lead the convoy, with the top fundraiser taking the Lead Truck position.

The East Gippsland Convoy for Kids is proudly sponsored by Gippsland Truck Centre and this year funds raised will support Angel Flight and Camp Quality

Watch in awe as hundreds of trucks roll into Lakes Entrance, starting from Traralgon and Orbost before meeting at the Greater Lakes Airfield.

TRUCKING INDUSTRY DINNER

Join fellow supporters at the Kalimna Hotel for a night of good food, drinks, and camaraderie. A Minute’s Silence will be observed in respect of those from the industry who have passed.

The Industry Dinner is proudly supported by East Vic Trucks and Kennedy Trailers this is where the transport industry once again unites to raise further funds for the Convoy’s chosen charities.

Overwhelming support means the dinner tickets have already sold out! However, if there are any industry members who still wish to attend the evening, they can purchase a bar ticket for $30 where finger food is offered and joining in on the auction is encouraged. The East Gippsland Convoy for Kids is an tri-annual charity event where hundreds of decorated trucks convoy through East Gippsland, Victoria to converge at Great Lakes Airfield Lakes Entrance to raise funds for children's charities like Camp Quality and Angel Flight.

The day showcases the East Gippsland transport industry and its trucks and brings the community together for a great cause. It is a popular fun family event supported by transport companies and the public, with local sponsors sponsoring the event, day of entertainment, and the drivers and sponsors evening event.

What are the key timings for East Gippsland Convoy?

Please note that the times below are subject to change. If we have any changes to the schedule, we will let the participants know as soon as possible. 

  • 6.00am Trucks gather at Traralgon and form a line
  • 7.00am Driver Safety briefing
  • 7.30am Convoy Departs Traralgon East Rocla Rd
  • 8.00am Trucks gather at Orbost and form a line
  • 9am: Gates open for public at Great Lakes Airfield for the commencement of the Family Festival
  • 9am: Convoy departs Orbost
  • 11am Convoy arrival (approx.), trucks park up along the airstrip
  • 12.00pm Truck movement curfew commences
  • 1.00pm Auction starts
  • 4.00pm Event concludes

What is the route for East Gippsland Convoy?

The Convoy will depart from Traralgon at 7.30am, it will travel along Princes HWY through Rosedale, Sale, Bairnsdale, and will park up at the Great Lakes Airfield Colquhoun Rd Lakes Entrance – trucks are expected to arrive at 11am.

Please remember that the traffic lights, road conditions, and weather can influence the Convoy and its arrival time.

The Convoy will also be leaving from the Orbost end at 9am and will follow the Princes HWY to converge with the Traralgon convoy in Lakes Entrance at the Great Lakes Airfield Colquhoun Rd around 11am.

How is the Lead Truck chosen?

All registered participants are automatically in the running to lead the convoy. The truck that raises the most money through their fundraising page will take the Lead Truck position. Please note that all funds pledged or raised are treated as donations and will go to the supported charities, regardless of whether you finish first.

Can I watch the convoy and cheer drivers on?

You certainly can, and we encourage you to do so! Cheer on the drivers, get creative and get out those air horn fist pumps and if you're in a vehicle, honk back!

You can either locate yourself at a safe spot (e.g. service road, footpath and leave sufficient space between yourself and the road), anywhere along Princes Hwy from Traralgon through to Lakes Entrance and anywhere from Orbost through to Lakes Entrance.

Or you can come to the Great Lakes Airfield fun day and park your car and bring a chair – maybe buy a drink or some food from the food trucks .and line the entrance way and watch the hundreds of trucks come through the gateway to park their trucks along the airfield.

Where can I park at the airfield?

If you are an event visitor, you will be directed to the visitor car park. Please be prepared to walk a little from the visitor car park to the event venue. 

If you require disability parking, please let the traffic controllers know and we will arrange for parking directly next to the venue.

Sign up and register your truck online for free and join Convoy for Kids! Once you’re registered, you’ll automatically receive your own fundraising page. You can use your page to start collecting donations in whatever way works best for you.

Once your page is live, start sharing it with friends, family, colleagues. Whether big or small, every contribution makes a meaningful difference, so share often and don’t be afraid to ask! Everyone who signs up has the chance to lead the convoy! The truck that raises the highest fundraising total will proudly take the lead position.
