Camp Quality gives kids facing cancer the chance to be kids again. Our services and programs are made specifically to help children 0 -13 who are dealing with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of someone they love, like a brother, sister, mum or dad. Watch this video to see how we do it.
HELPING EVERYWHERE WE CAN
When cancer impacts your life it isn’t restricted to one time and place. That’s why we provide support in four different areas of life.
Heading home after hospital treatment for families impacted by cancer often means adjusting to a 'new normal'. Family fun days and Family Experiences give families the chance to reconnect and create memories outside of hospital. Our Kids’ Guide to Cancer app provides children with essential information when facing the diagnosis of a loved one.
We provide face to face support in hospitals with Family Liaison Coordinators, Child Life Therapists and our puppets – Kylie Dean and Mel. Our Beads of Courage Program at Sydney Children's Hospital uses unique beads to track each procedure of a child’s cancer experience, such as blood tests, central lines, radiation sessions and surgery and kids proudly collect beads that tell their own courageous story.
The Camp Quality Puppets, Kylie, Dean and Mel, visit primary schools and pre-schools across Australia. They perform a fun, empowering, interactive show that dispels cancer myths and creates an inclusive community for children who have been diagnosed with cancer, or have a diagnosed parent or sibling. The Primary School Education Program gives students the facts about cancer in this way helps reduce the likelihood of bullying, exclusion and anxiety.
Away from it all
For kids facing the daily ups and downs of a cancer diagnosis, and their families, the routine of hospital and treatment can become all consuming. Our Kids' Camps and Family Camps provide kids and their families impacted by cancer with a vital break to strengthen their wellbeing and boost their support networks. Our Retreats offer families a safe space to relax, unwind and spend quality time away during treatment, in remission, and in the case of bereavement.
