On the Road: WesCarpade Day 4

08 Aug 2018

Day 4: Wednesday 8th August

In one of the more picturesque and relaxing days of the tour, Weskies headed West through the Stirling Ranges and towards a welcoming Mt Barker. The trip from Bremer Bay to Barker featured a lovely morning tea and sing-along at the Bluff Knoll Café, a ramble through the Stirlings and a great visit to the Kendenup Primary School to see the Camp Quality Puppet team in action. The day finished with a memorable performance from the Plantagenet Players.

Highlights of Day 3 included:

  • Sunrise and a lovely breakfast at the Bremer Bay Sports club.
  • A warm welcome at the Bluff Knoll Café including a couple of songs courtesy of owners Chris and Jacky and Doug from our media crew.
  • A photo stop at Bluff Knoll. Unfortunately rain meant photos showing little more than a grey background.
  • Lunch at the Kendenup Agi Grounds hosted by the Kendenup P&C, including another delicious pumpkin soup – the fourth in as many days!
  • A visit to the Kendenup Primary School including a full puppet show courtesy of our travelling puppeteers Tegan and Haydon.
  • A fun-stop including our intrepid media team and some creative identity photographs.
  • Mt Barker turned out in force to welcome the Weskies for a town parade, supported by the local fire brigade.
  • Dinner at the Plantagenet District Hall catered by Happy’s Diner.
  • An amateur variety show from the Plantagenet Players kept the Weskies entertained.

Today’s Dipstick Award went to Susan Fleming for a small problem with yesterday’s route notes.

Tomorrow the crew heads to Manjimup and through some of WA’s tallest forests.
