Day 1: Sunday 5th August 2018
After a week of rain in the South West, the 2018 Wescarpade crew were greeted to a fine morning of sunshine and hospitality on the Mandurah foreshore, courtesy of the Mandurah Lions Club and a cooked breakfast. 16 quirky themed cars, 12 official vehicles and a more than 50 participants were farewelled by Mandurah locals as they headed for the first stop at Dwellingup. Ahead lays a 2000 kilometre adventure through WA’s South West and Great Southern.
Highlights of Day 1 included:
- A relaxing trip on the Hotham Valley Railway from Dwellingup to Isandra.
- Delicious lunch at the Dwellingup Hall.
- A great night at the Quindanning Hotel, including a Viking themed evening with fires, great hospitality including a long table banquet with lamb shanks.
The Day 1 Dipstick Award went to our illustrious course director Peter Hodge who somehow managed to crack his windscreen with a mobile phone.
Tomorrow the crew heads to Lake Grace.
